wikipedia
The Parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Przeźmierowo, established on August 1, 1957, by Archbishop Antoni Baraniak, has a rich historical background tied to the development of the local community. Due to the distance to the nearby town of Lusów, where they had to attend Mass until then, the residents of Przeźmierowo took steps to create their own parish. The first milestone was the construction of a wooden chapel in 1932. In 1938, the so-called Catholic house was built and consecrated despite harsh winter conditions. After the war, the residents repeatedly sought parish status, which was successfully achieved in 1957, enabling the community to flourish. Architecturally, the parish has undergone many changes. The first church was built by repurposing the Catholic house, reflecting the modest conditions and determination of the parishioners. Between 2000 and 2007, a new temple was constructed to accommodate the growing needs of the community, becoming the central religious hub for an increasingly larger congregation. The solemn consecration of the new church took place on November 13, 2007. Culturally, the parish is home to numerous groups and organizations that contribute to parish life. The Liturgical Altar Service, scholas, choir, and the Light-Life Movement are active, fostering community integration and spiritual formation. The community also organizes various events that engage parishioners and strengthen interpersonal bonds. An interesting fact is that the construction of the parish cemetery, which was officially opened in 1982, was the result of years of efforts and struggles to secure a suitable plot of land. Over the years, its area has significantly expanded and now spans approximately five hectares. Additionally, the establishment of a new parish in Baranowo on July 1, 1997, highlights the dynamic development of the region. Over the years, the parish has shaped its structures to meet the needs of a growing number of parishioners and the challenges of modern times. Since 2008, the pastor has been Rev. Canon Tomasz Szukalski, who, along with a team of collaborators, conducts pastoral activities and supports community development. The Pastoral and Economic Councils actively assist the clergy in their work, and parish initiatives reflect the engagement and vitality of the local community.
