Tarnowo Podgórne is a rural municipality located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Poznań County. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Poznań Voivodeship, and its administrative seat is the town of Tarnowo Podgórne. The municipality is considered one of the wealthiest in Poland, which is linked to its well-developed infrastructure and proximity to Poznań. In 2018, the population was 26,136, making it a dynamically developing community. The municipality covers an area of 101.4 km², of which 79% is agricultural land and 7% is forested. Tarnowo Podgórne includes several village administrations (sołectwa), such as Baranowo, Ceradz Kościelny, Przeźmierowo, and Wysogotowo. It borders other municipalities, including Buk, Dopiewo, Duszniki, Kaźmierz, Poznań, and Rokietnica, which fosters cooperation and cultural exchange.
