wikipedia
The Treasury of St. James in Nysa is an exhibition gallery dedicated to sacred art, housed in a free-standing bell tower dating from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, adjacent to the Church of St. James and Agnes. Opened in 2005, it stands out for the richness of its exhibits, which have been in the possession of the parish for centuries. The treasury contains numerous liturgical vessels, sculptures, and candlesticks that reflect the history and traditions of the local community. Among the most valuable exhibits are a reliquary cross from 1652 by Christopher Waltenberger, pax instruments from around 1490, a gilded ampulla containing the heart of Wrocław Bishop Charles of Habsburg, a Gothic Mass chalice from the first half of the 15th century, a Baroque monstrance from 1740 adorned with diamonds, and an 18th-century Mass chalice from Vienna. The architectural merits of the bell tower, which houses the treasury, create a unique combination with the spiritual and cultural heritage of the region. The arrangement of exhibits in modern display cases allows visitors to admire both the historical and artistic aspects of these valuable works. An interesting fact is that the Treasury of St. James plays an important role in the protection and promotion of the sacred. The diverse furnishings of the treasury attest to the rich history of the parish, making it an important element of local culture and heritage.
