wikipedia
The Church of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kicin is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the village of Kicin, near Poznań. The temple was built between 1749 and 1751 from wood, commissioned by Poznań Bishop Józef Tadeusz Kierski. It features a single-nave log structure, consisting of a presbytery, nave, and tower. The presbytery is smaller and closed on three sides, with a vestibule adjacent to the nave. The tower, with its tented roof, is part of the original architecture. The building has dual ridge beams, and the roof is covered with wood shingles. The interior of the church is adorned with flat ceilings, and 20th-century restorations revived the original polychrome paintings, which were uncovered during work carried out between 1966 and 1967. The church also underwent several renovations, including in 1863 and significant restoration work between 2010 and 2011, which included the conservation of the interior and polychrome decorations. Aesthetically, the church’s furnishings are diverse, featuring an 18th-century main altar, pulpit, and baptismal font, while the side altars in the Neo-Baroque style date back to the early 20th century. On the left side, there is a painting of Saint Joseph, and on the right, a painting of Our Lady of the Snows. An interesting element is a 17th-century painting of Mary with the Child Jesus, as well as stained-glass windows from the 1930s and 1950s. The church not only serves as an important element of local architecture but also functions as a cultural and social center for the residents of Kicin.
