wikipedia
Stajkowa, with an elevation of 706 meters, is one of the westernmost peaks in the Beskid Sądecki range, located in the western part of the Radziejowa Range. Situated within the municipality of Krościenko nad Dunajcem, the summit is surrounded by other mountains such as Groń and Jaworzyca, with its slopes descending towards the Dunajec River and the Zakijowski Stream. Although the summit itself is forested and offers no views, the surrounding areas provide beautiful panoramas of the Dunajec Valley, the Pieniny Mountains, and the Tatra Mountains. The main red hiking trail of the Beskids runs across the peak. Stajkowa is part of the Poprad Landscape Park, and the area features mineral water springs and Carpathian beech forests. The history of Stajkowa dates back to when it was used as pastoral land, and an old road from Krościenko to Stary Sącz passed over the summit. On the western slope stands the "Jubilee Cross," which has an interesting history linked to the communist era in Poland, while at the base of the mountain lies the "Cholera Cross," commemorating the victims of a cholera epidemic. The slopes of Stajkowa are also known for their mineral water springs, such as "Stefan," "Michalina," and "Maria," which have been utilized since the 18th century. In the 21st century, with support from the European Union, these springs were developed, offering visitors access to mineral-rich water. In addition to its natural resources, Stajkowa has gained significance as a winter recreation destination. In 2008, the "Stajkowa Ski" resort was opened, featuring a ski lift and a ski run. The facility includes a regional-style tavern, equipment rental services, and wellness areas, making it a popular destination for tourists. The history, natural beauty, and tourist infrastructure of Stajkowa make it an attractive location both for mountain enthusiasts and those seeking active leisure.
