wikipedia
Stal Stalowa Wola, founded in 1938 as Klub Sportowy Stalowa Wola, is a Polish football club that has been operating professionally since 2018 as a football joint-stock company. The majority stake is owned by the city of Stalowa Wola. The club is based in Stalowa Wola at the modern Podkarpackie Centrum Piłki Nożnej stadium, opened in 2020, which is a significant architectural landmark in the region. Stal Stalowa Wola boasts notable achievements, including a 12th-place finish in the First League in the 1993/1994 season and a quarterfinal appearance in the Polish Cup in the 1991/1992 season. The club's history dates back to the interwar period when its first matches were played on an amateur field without a running track. After World War II, the club resumed its activities and steadily built on its past successes. In 1973, Stal was promoted to the Second League and later advanced to the First League, where they played in the 1990s. In a cultural context, the club has an active fan community that supports the team in local derbies, including matches against Siarka Tarnobrzeg, which are now referred to as the Northern Podkarpacie derby. Interestingly, the club has inspired pop culture creators; "Stalówka Wola" served as the prototype for a team in the movie "Piłkarski Poker." After various setbacks, including league relegations, Stal Stalowa Wola regained its place in the Second League for the 2023/2024 season, a testament to the determination of the team and the local community.
