wikipedia
Strzegowo is a rural municipality in the Masovian Voivodeship, within Mława County, which until 1997 was named Gmina Strzegowo-Osada. For many years, the municipality was part of the Ciechanów Voivodeship (1975–1998). The administrative seat of the municipality is the town of Strzegowo, which until the end of 1996 was named Strzegowo-Osada. The area of the present-day municipality previously included the former Gmina Unierzyż and parts of the Gmina Dąbrowa and Gmina Regimin, reflecting the rich administrative history of this part of Poland. The municipality covers an area of 214.23 km², of which 71% is agricultural land and 22% is forested. In 2004, the population was approximately 7,950. In 2014, the age pyramid of the inhabitants indicated demographic diversity. The municipality includes numerous sołectwa (village administrative units) such as Adamowo, Augustowo, Chądzyny, and Unierzyż, as well as several smaller villages like Giełczynek and Stara Maryśka. It is worth noting that Strzegowo and its surroundings are rich in beautiful landscapes typical of the Masovian region, with vast fields and forests that are ideal for recreation and relaxation. Neighboring municipalities, such as Ciechanów, Glinojeck, and Raciąż, form a broader regional context and contribute to local culture and traditions. An interesting fact is the historical evolution of the area’s purpose, which is reflected in its administrative structure and the architecture of preserved buildings. Despite its small size, Strzegowo has the potential to explore local history and traditions, attracting both residents and tourists seeking authentic experiences in the Polish countryside.
