Terespol Commune, formerly known as Kobylany Commune, is a rural municipality in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Biała Podlaska County, which boasts rich natural and cultural assets. The administrative seat of the commune is Kobylany, which was named Terespol until the end of 2013. According to data from July 2016, the commune had a population of 6,734. Within its boundaries lies the Szwajcaria Podlaska Nature Reserve, known for its diverse forest stands and numerous monumental trees. The reserve is also home to many rare and protected plant species. The commune covers an area of 141.31 km², of which 73% is agricultural land and 14% is forest land, highlighting its agricultural character. Demographic data from 2004 indicated significant age diversity among the inhabitants, and its age structure is typical of rural areas in Poland. The commune consists of 20 village administrations (sołectwa), including Bohukały, Koroszczyn, Krzyczew, and Łęgi, as well as smaller settlements without the status of a village administration. Neighboring municipalities include Kodeń, Piszczac, Rokitno, as well as the town of Terespol and Zalesie, emphasizing the commune's location in close proximity to the border with Belarus.
