Księżówka, the retreat house of the Polish Bishops' Conference in Zakopane, has its origins dating back to February 23, 1910, when the Society for the Health Home for Priests acquired a property known as "Adasiówka." Originally, Księżówka included a wooden section, which has been preserved to this day. In the following years, the building was expanded with brick elements, significantly influencing its architectural character. In 1997, Pope John Paul II visited Księżówka, further highlighting its importance, and a special apartment and elevator were prepared for his comfort. In February 2010, a modernization of Księżówka began, which included insulating the building, replacing windows and doors, and upgrading the heating system, carried out by the company INTER-BUD from Krakow. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Księżówka, which took place on November 25, 2010, celebrations were organized, attended by local government officials and members of the Standing Council of the Polish Bishops' Conference. Księżówka, as a formation and training center, also plays an important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the region, serving as a venue for retreats, meetings, and Church-related events. Interestingly, the property is located in a picturesque area at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, making it an ideal place for rest and reflection.
