The Magdalena Oil Industry Open-Air Museum in Gorlice was opened on May 31, 2012, on the site of the former "Magdalena" oil mine, which was one of many oil facilities in the region. The history of oil extraction in this area began in 1931, and by the year 2000, approximately 110 wells had been drilled, yielding a total of about 310,000 tons of oil. The museum showcases tools, equipment, and documents related to the history of the oil industry in Poland, particularly in the Gorlice Oil Basin. The centerpiece of the complex is a reconstructed drilling rig from the "Ćwiartka" shaft dating back to before 1880, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the Low Beskids. The exhibition also includes reconstructions of natural oil seeps, a drill forge, various pumps and oil extraction equipment, as well as a collection of vials containing crude oil samples of different colors and densities. The museum also offers recreational attractions such as grilling areas and sports games. Located on the Carpathian-Galician Oil Trail, the site is managed by Kazimierz Dudek and aims to commemorate and promote the rich history of Poland's oil industry.
