wikipedia
The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Roman Catholic temple located in Białystok, within the Białystok-Bacieczki deanery of the Archdiocese of Białystok. It was built between 1905 and 1910 according to the design of architect Romuald Lenczewski. It features an eclectic style and a hall-like interior layout, while externally it is distinguished by a single tower. The church was consecrated on September 29, 1910, and five side altars from the old temple were moved to the new building. The interior is decorated with paintings by artists from Vilnius, Józef and Łucja Bałzukiewicz. In 1947, the church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Vilnius, Romuald Jałbrzykowski. In the 1960s, polychrome work was carried out, and between 1984 and 1992, thanks to the efforts of parish priest Father Józef Zubowski, a major renovation was conducted under the supervision of the Provincial Conservator of Monuments. In the following years, renovation and conservation work continued, including the restoration of the main and side altars, as well as the organ. New oak pews were also installed, contributing to the comfort of the faithful. The temple not only serves a religious function but also represents an important element of local culture and architecture, bearing witness to historical changes and regional traditions. It is also worth noting the rich artistic heritage associated with religious painting, which enriches the interior of the church and attracts both the faithful and tourists.
