The Dobrzyniewo Duże Commune, located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship within Białystok County, was established on January 1, 1973. Until the end of 2001, it was known as the Dobrzyniewo Kościelne Commune, and its seat was moved to Dobrzyniewo Duże in 2002. The commune covers an area of 160.67 km², of which 57% is agricultural land and 36% is forest land, making it an area with a strong agricultural and forestry profile. In 2012, the commune was inhabited by 8,560 people. The commune's structure includes numerous village districts, such as Bohdan, Dobrzyniewo Duże, Gniła, and Zalesie, as well as the settlement of Tartak, which does not have the status of a village district. An important step in the commune's history was the abolition of official place names, which took place on November 24, 2020. The commune borders Białystok and other communes such as Choroszcz and Wasilków, which fosters its integration into regional socio-cultural life. The atmosphere of the commune, set in the picturesque landscape of Podlasie, is enriched by the diverse traditions and culture of the local residents, making it an attractive place both to live and to visit. Thanks to its proximity to Białystok, residents have access to numerous cultural and educational institutions, which contributes to the development of the local community. An interesting fact is that the commune was part of the Białystok Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998, and its demographic structure and long history demonstrate how the commune adapts to changing socio-economic conditions.
