wikipedia
The Orchid House in Łańcut is a unique greenhouse complex that forms part of the park of the Museum-Castle in Łańcut. Registered as a historical monument, its history dates back to the first decade of the 20th century, when it served as a support facility for the Palm House. Not only orchids were cultivated there, but also other plants such as carnations and gloxinias. After World War II, the state-owned farm (PGR) in Węgliska continued orchid cultivation until the 1980s. Shortly after the collapse of the PGRs, the orchid house was incorporated into the park complex. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair for many years, but after reconstruction, it was reopened on June 28, 2008. Architecturally, the orchid house consists of five sections: an exhibition area, three backstage areas with diverse climate zones tailored to the needs of the cultivated species, and a central café surrounded by a "moat" with fish. The exhibition section features orchids in bloom, including modern hybrids with magnificent flowers, such as Phalaenopsis, as well as botanical orchids that are closer to their natural environment. Part of the pre-war Potocki collection is located in the southern zone. A notable attraction are the epiphytic orchids, displayed in a natural setting on tree branches. The opening hours of the orchid house vary depending on the season, allowing visitors to explore this exceptional place at the right time. This site combines a rich botanical heritage with the history of the castle, creating a unique atmosphere for nature and culture enthusiasts.
