Tomaszów Lubelski is a rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Tomaszów County, with its administrative seat in the town of the same name. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Zamość Voivodeship. As of the end of 2019, the municipality had a population of 11,358, with a relatively balanced demographic structure, where there are 102 women for every 100 men. The municipality covers an area of 170.78 km², dominated by agricultural land (67%) and forests (27%). It constitutes 11.48% of the county's total area. Tomaszów Lubelski boasts rich natural resources, with three nature reserves: Piekiełko, Zarośle, and Przecinka, which protect unique ecosystems and rare plant species. The area is also characterized by numerous villages, such as Chorążanka, Dąbrowa Tomaszowska, and Rogóźno. The municipality borders several others, including Bełżec, Krasnobród, and Susiec, making it part of the diverse Lublin region. Despite its modest size, the municipality offers a wealth of natural heritage and numerous opportunities for outdoor activities, attracting nature enthusiasts and those interested in local culture.
