The Toruń I Deanery is one of 24 deaneries in the Diocese of Toruń, located in Poland. Until 1992, the deanery was part of the Diocese of Chełmno, based in Pelplin. Its current structure was established as a result of a reorganization of diocesan structures that took place at the turn of 2001 and 2002. Historically, Toruń has been a city with a rich past, dating back to medieval times, which is reflected in the architecture of the churches and other historical monuments in the region. Many of the parishes are characterized by beautiful Gothic and Neo-Gothic buildings that attract both the faithful and tourists. Culturally, the deanery is a place where various religious and social events take place, highlighting local traditions and history. Interestingly, Toruń, known not only for its architecture but also as the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus, combines aspects of science and spirituality. The parishes in the deanery play a significant role in the life of local communities, organizing various activities that foster integration among residents and promote Christian values.
