wikipedia
Trzciniec is a village located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the municipality of Białe Błota, near the borders of Bydgoszcz. Its name suggests a location near marshes, which is justified by the swampy terrain on which it was established in the 18th century. The village has a typical residential character, primarily inhabited by people working in nearby Bydgoszcz. Architecturally, single-family homes dominate, and the development of buildings accelerated particularly in the 1960s and 1970s, when intensive construction began. Trzciniec is also known for its disused Evangelical cemetery and a railway station on the Chorzów Batory–Tczew line. Within the village, there is a documented deposit of quartz sands used in construction. The historical influences of the settlement date back to the times of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, when it was part of the municipal estate of Bydgoszcz. For many years, the settlement consisted of two parts: Old Trzciniec and New Trzciniec. In the 19th century, Trzciniec had a limited population, and after World War II, it developed due to the construction of an airport and increased demand for housing. Today, Trzciniec is home to a natural monument – a pedunculate oak tree, and the surrounding areas of the Bydgoszcz Forest offer recreational opportunities for residents and tourists. Despite its development, the village has not been incorporated into the boundaries of Bydgoszcz, making it a unique residential enclave located close to the metropolis.
