wikipedia
Tuchola Forest National Park is one of the 23 national parks in Poland, established in 1996 and located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Chojnice and Brus region. It covers an area of 4,613.04 hectares and is surrounded by a buffer zone of 12,980.52 hectares. The park is part of the Tuchola Forest Biosphere Reserve, established in 2010. The largest part of the park's area is covered by forests, particularly coniferous forests, which make up 98% of the park's forested land. The park also includes lakes, such as Lake Ostrowite and the Seven Lakes Stream system. The park's flora is diverse, although most habitats are poor and acidic. It is home to 634 species of vascular plants, 22% of all moss species in Poland, and a rich variety of lichens. The lake waters host rare species such as the water lobelia, the water plantain, and the least water lily. The park protects 43 species of vascular plants and 27 species of liverworts. The fauna of Tuchola Forest includes a wide range of species, with a dominance of arthropods, including 42 species of butterflies, 17 species of ants, and 104 species of bees. The lakes are home to 28 species of fish, including protected species. The park is also a breeding ground for 130 species of birds, 98 of which are breeding birds, with the majority under legal protection. The park's logo features a western capercaillie, which, however, has not been observed in the region for years. Tuchola Forest captivates with its rich nature and unique ecosystems, attracting tourists and nature enthusiasts.
