UFO in Emilcin

In 1978, Emilcin became the site of a controversial story involving an alleged encounter with an extraterrestrial civilization, as recounted by a local farmer named Jan Wolski. He claimed that on May 10 of that year, he was approached by two short beings dressed in black suits, who communicated using high-pitched, squeaky sounds. After noticing a silvery vehicle, Wolski entered its interior, where he was reportedly subjected to examinations. The encounter lasted only a few minutes, and upon returning home, he described his experience to his sons, who later shared the story with neighbors. Although the topic caused a sensation, the villagers did not question Wolski’s honesty. The incident attracted media attention as well as the interest of ufologists, including Witold Wawrzonek and Zbigniew Blania. The former, after allegedly hypnotizing Wolski, was said to have created a hoax, which over the years sparked controversy among skeptics and supporters of ufological theories. Various accounts of Wolski’s experience have been the subject of analysis and debate, and the story itself has been featured in documentaries, including the film *Odwiedziny, czyli u progu tajemnicy* (Visitors: On the Threshold of Mystery). Among other outcomes, these events inspired the creation of a monument commemorating the alleged UFO landing, unveiled in 2005 by the Nautilus Foundation. The monument, symbolizing this mysterious event, takes the form of a metal cube balancing on a pedestal. Beyond its ufological significance, the Emilcin incident contributed to the development of local culture and legends that endure to this day. Jan Wolski passed away in 1990, leaving an indelible mark on the memory of local residents and in popular culture. The Emilcin story has also served as inspiration in literature, including comics, underscoring its impact on contemporary perceptions of paranormal phenomena in Poland.
