wikipedia
Opolski County, located in the Lublin Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as a result of administrative reform. Its capital is Opole Lubelskie, a town with a rich history—it regained its town rights in 1957 after losing them in 1870. The county was initially established as the Opole-Lublin County in 1954, and its administrative structure changed several times over the years, incorporating various gromadas (rural districts) and gminas (municipalities). A significant event in the county's history was the 1973 reform, which reintroduced gminas in place of gromadas, reshaping its territorial division. Demographically, the county had a population of 59,208 in 2019, reflecting the stability of the local community. Opolski County borders five other counties, which contributes to its development and cultural exchange. Architecturally, the area retains various structures from its historical development, including public utility buildings such as the County Office and hospitals. An interesting fact is the transfer of two villages—Kępa Gostecka and Kępa Solecka—from the municipality of Solec nad Wisłą to Opolski County in 2004, a change motivated by their geographical isolation. In terms of public institutions, the county is served by entities such as the County Labour Office and the District Court, strengthening local administration and services for residents.
