wikipedia
Umultowo, located in the northern part of Poznań on the Warta River, has a rich history dating back to the 11th century, with its first written mention in 1253. In the past, the village was part of church property, and from the 17th century, it came into the hands of the von Treskow family, who built a small manor here. In the 19th century, Napoleon Bonaparte passed through Umultowo. In 1987, Umultowo was incorporated into Poznań, and as early as 1992, the auxiliary unit of the city – the Umultowo Housing Estate – was established. The contemporary architectural character of Umultowo is shaped not only by traditional single-family homes but also by university complexes. The development of the Morasko Campus of Adam Mickiewicz University has significantly influenced local infrastructure, including the construction of the Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences and the university swimming pool, which attracts the academic community. Residents of Umultowo actively participate in cultural life, as evidenced by the monthly magazine "Panorama Umultowa," published since 2000. The local community is also connected to the Parish of St. Hedwig the Queen, where various religious events take place. Umultowo boasts numerous sports facilities, such as multi-functional playing fields and a squash hall, promoting physical activity among residents. With its architectural diversity and cultural vibrancy, Umultowo is a dynamic part of the million-strong Poznań metropolitan area. Interestingly, the district's name is reflected in the name of Umultowska Street, whose spelling has undergone changes in the past.
