Urzędów is an urban-rural municipality in the Lublin Voivodeship, located in the Kraśnik County. Its administrative seat is the town of Urzędów, which was historically known as the municipality of Ostrów until 1870. The municipality covers an area of 119.06 km², of which 78% is agricultural land and 17% is forested. It is one of the largest municipalities in the county, divided into 22 village districts (sołectwa), reflecting its agricultural character, with a strong focus on fruit growing and the cultivation of soft fruits. The area is rich in sand and clay deposits, and its favorable environmental conditions support the development of agritourism. There are also plans to expand agricultural and food processing as well as refrigeration facilities in the region. As of December 31, 2019, the municipality had a population of 8,582. The Natalin Nature Reserve, located within the municipality, protects fir trees at the northeastern limit of their natural range, highlighting the region's commitment to nature conservation. Urzędów and its surrounding villages feature local cultural and architectural resources that may attract tourists and history enthusiasts. The modern municipality is also a result of administrative reforms, which have influenced the organization of local social and economic life. It borders municipalities such as Borzechów, Chodel, and Kraśnik, enabling diverse social and cultural interactions.
