The observation tower on Wieżyca, located on the summit of a 395-meter-high mountain in the Bolków Foothills, has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. In 1745, Austrian commanders observed the movements of Prussian troops from its peak before the Battle of Dobromierz. This event inspired local residents to erect a monument for the battle's centenary, which would also serve as an observation tower. Construction of the tower began but, due to insufficient funds, was not completed until 1852. Between 1877 and 1879, the tower was rebuilt into the Monument to the Glory of the Prussian Soldier based on a design by architect Karl Lüdecke, giving it a new, monumental character. In addition to the tower, catering facilities were established around it, including a restaurant with a ballroom and a summer restaurant, which attracted tourists and visitors. After World War II, the operation of these facilities ended in 1952 due to financial problems related to tax burdens. Just three years later, the restaurants were closed, and the tower itself fell into oblivion. It was not until 1991, when a private owner purchased the tower, that it was renovated, allowing it to be restored to use and revitalizing tourism in the region. The observation tower on Wieżyca is not only a site of historical significance but also a place offering picturesque views, making it a popular destination for trips and a tourist attraction.
