Wąchock is an urban-rural municipality located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within the Starachowice County. The seat of the municipality is the town of Wąchock, and before 1929, the municipality was known as Wielka Wieś. The municipality includes localities such as Ciecierówka, Wielka Wieś, Parszów, Marcinków, Upper Marcinków, Rataje, Wymysłów, and Węglów. The area of the municipality is 81.82 km², of which 29% is agricultural land and 61% is forest land, indicating a significant presence of green areas in the region. In 2004, the municipality was inhabited by 7,065 people. Wąchock has a rich history – in 2001, Majków and Michałów separated from the municipality and joined the Skarżysko Kościelne municipality. The municipality is surrounded by other municipalities: Bodzentyn, Brody, Mirzec, Pawłów, Skarżysko Kościelne, Starachowice, and Suchedniów.
