wikipedia
The municipality of Wąpielsk, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship within Rypin County, has a long history dating back to 1867, when it was established as a collective municipality in Rypin County. In the interwar period, it belonged to Rypin County in the Warsaw Voivodeship, and after 1938, it was transferred to the Pomeranian Voivodeship. A significant event in its history was the abolition of the municipality of Wąpielsk in 1940 in favor of the municipality of Radziki Duże, which led to complex administrative changes that lasted until the 1950s. Among its 4,122 inhabitants in 2011, the municipality covers an area of 93.78 km², largely covered by agricultural land (71%) and forests (20%). Wąpielsk is characterized by a rich architectural heritage, including historic landmarks such as the 19th-century palace in Długie, the manor house in Łapinóżek, the Church of St. Catherine in Radziki Duże, the ruins of a 14th/15th-century castle, and an eclectic manor house in Wąpielsk. The region is also known for its beautiful landscapes and the Tomkowo Nature Reserve, which protects a valuable mixed forest with an admixture of Polish larch. The municipality includes rural localities such as Bielawki, Kiełpiny, Radziki Duże and Małe, as well as the settlements of Chorab, Noskowizna, and Olszak. It borders several other municipalities, such as Bobrowo, Brodnica, and Osiek, fostering regional integration and cooperation. Wąpielsk is a place where history intertwines with the present, and traditions are nurtured by the local community, making it an interesting point on the map of Kuyavia and Pomerania.
