Węgorzyno is an urban-rural municipality located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Łobez County, with the town of Węgorzyno as its seat, which obtained town rights in 1460. The municipality covers 24% of the county's area and is situated within the Ińskie and Drawskie Lake Districts, renowned for their natural and tourist attractions. Węgorzyno is well-connected thanks to national and regional roads; it also has railway lines, including the Runowo Pomorskie station with a rich history dating back to 1859. The municipality is associated with the Iński Landscape Park and the Źródliskowe Zbocza nature reserve, which attract tourists, especially kayaking enthusiasts and hikers following the blue tourist trails. The municipality comprises numerous villages, each with its own local character and history. In 2016, the municipality had 7,105 inhabitants, and its budget expenditures amounted to 26 million PLN. The municipality also has an active postal infrastructure and a developed local community that influences its cultural life. Interestingly, until 1999, the municipality belonged to the Szczecin Voivodeship and then to the Stargard County. In Węgorzyno and its surroundings, visitors can find numerous architectural and natural monuments that reflect the region's rich history.
