Łobez County, located in northwestern Poland within the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, was established in 2002 through the merger of municipalities from several former counties. Its administrative seat is the town of Łobez, which had previously served this function from 1860 until 1975, when the county was dissolved due to administrative reforms. Łobez County is notable for having the smallest population in the region, with 36,696 residents recorded in 2019. The county lies on the Łobez Upland and within the Ińsko and Drawsko Lake Districts, covering an area of 1,065.13 km². The local economy struggles with a high unemployment rate of around 18%. Despite this, the area boasts rich natural resources, including the Iński Landscape Park in the south. In terms of transportation, the county is served by several railway lines and a network of national and regional roads, ensuring good connections with other cities. Local media include weekly newspapers and Rega TV. As part of its local government activities, the county authorities organize various cultural events and award the title "Meritorious for Łobez County" to individuals and institutions that have contributed significantly to the region. Although often overlooked by tourists, Łobez County has a rich history and beautiful landscapes that can attract nature and culture enthusiasts.
