The Warsaw Ghetto Museum, scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025, will be located in the revitalized complex of the former Bersohn and Bauman Children's Hospital at Śliska and Sienna Streets in Warsaw. Its temporary headquarters are housed in the PAST building at 39 Zielna Street. The museum aims to commemorate the daily life, survival strategies, and extermination of Polish Jews imprisoned in the Warsaw Ghetto and other ghettos in occupied Poland. The initial idea for the museum was proposed by Sigmund Nissenbaum, a participant in the Ghetto Uprising, and its establishment was announced on February 28, 2018, by Minister of Culture Piotr Gliński. In October 2018, the Masovian regional government leased the building to the museum for 30 years, and both structures were added to the list of historical monuments. The museum conducts various cultural and scientific activities, including temporary exhibitions and academic conferences. Archaeological work is also underway, uncovering artifacts from the time of the ghetto, including everyday objects and religious items. In 2022, during excavations in Muranów, numerous artifacts were discovered, including fragments of the Anielewicz Bunker. The museum is also involved in education, organizing lessons for youth and seminars for teachers. It collaborates with numerous domestic and international institutions and engages in commemorative activities, such as organizing anniversary celebrations of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Architecturally, the museum is fully transforming and adapting the historic hospital complex, creating an interesting blend of modernity and historical substance. The museum's visual identity, created by the Lithuanian studio DADADA, combines contemporary elements with references to the rich cultural heritage of Jews. An interesting fact is that the museum draws on literary interpretations of the ghetto, highlighting its interdisciplinary nature.
