wikipedia
Warsaw-Radom Airport named after the Heroes of the Radom June 1976, located approximately 4 km from Radom, is a civil airport with a rich history. Its origins date back to the 1920s, and in 2014 it was entered into the national register of civil airports, marking the beginning of its activity in civil aviation. Before 2023, the airport operated under the name Radom-Sadków and was managed by the company Port Lotniczy Radom S.A. The airport's infrastructure includes a 2,500-meter runway, a passenger terminal, and a Category II ILS navigation system, enabling landings in difficult conditions. The airport stands out with its modern terminal, opened in August 2022, designed to handle up to 9 million passengers annually. The airport is well-connected to major roads and railway lines, making it an important transport hub in the region. For the summer 2024 season, flights to popular tourist destinations such as Tirana, Antalya, and Preveza are planned, along with services from low-cost airlines. In the first few months of 2023 alone, the airport handled over 100,000 passengers, demonstrating its growing popularity. Historically, the establishment of the civil airport in Radom was the result of efforts by local activists, and the Ministry of National Defense issued a decision to launch it in 2006. The Radom local government co-financed the project in early 2007, contributing to the development of local infrastructure. An interesting fact is that Radom-Sadków was the first airport in Poland to introduce fully LED runway lighting. In recent years, the airport has undergone significant changes, and its new operational model as an easy alternative to Warsaw Chopin Airport aims to increase air transport accessibility for residents of the region.
