Werbkowice is a rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within the Hrubieszów County. Its administrative seat is situated in the village of Werbkowice. The municipality covers an area of 187.2 km², of which 83% is agricultural land and 7% is forested. According to demographic data, as of the end of 2021, the municipality was inhabited by 9,011 people. The area has a rich history; in 1827, the population was 6,690, with the Uniate Church being the dominant religious group. Werbkowice boasts a vibrant cultural tradition, and the surrounding area includes numerous villages and estates, such as Alojzów, Gozdów, and Łysa Góra. In the 20th century, the municipality underwent administrative changes; between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Zamość Voivodeship. Neighboring municipalities include Hrubieszów, Miączyn, Mircze, Trzeszczany, and Tyszowce. An interesting aspect is the diversity of its village districts, which serve as architectural and cultural enclaves of the region, contributing to the unique landscape of this part of Poland.
