wikipedia
Biały Bór is a town in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, situated in the valley of the Biała River, between Lake Bielsko and Lake Ławiczka. It was granted town rights in 1382. The town boasts a rich history dating back to the 13th century, when a Roman Catholic parish was established and the Gdańsk Pomerania region was incorporated into Poland. Over the centuries, Biały Bór was under the rule of the Teutonic Knights and underwent various administrative and social changes, including the impact of armed conflicts that led to significant destruction during World War II. Architecturally, the town is distinguished by St. Michael the Archangel's Church from 1878 and the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, built between 1992 and 1997, which is the youngest historic monument in Poland. An interesting fact is that the film "Colonel Wolodyjowski" was shot in Biały Bór. The town is also home to a significant Ukrainian community, established as a result of post-World War II resettlements; the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Educational Complex operates here. Sports play an important role, with football and equestrian clubs, as well as Polish championships in eventing. The town has a well-developed transport infrastructure, with rail and road connections. In the vicinity of Biały Bór, there are also artificial hills formed after gravel extraction, offering a view of Szczecinek. Biały Bór is a place with a rich history, Ukrainian culture, and vibrant sports and educational life.
