The municipality of Wielgie, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in the Lipno County, has a long and diverse history as well as rich architectural and natural assets. The seat of the municipality is the town of Wielgie. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Włocławek Voivodeship. The area is characterized by a typical agricultural profile, and according to data from the end of 2019, it was home to 6,691 people. The municipality covers an area of 133.83 km², of which 73% is agricultural land and 16% is forest land, making it an attractive destination for nature lovers and tourists, especially around Lake Orłowskie.
