The Wielichowo Municipality, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship within the Grodzisk County, combines urban and rural characteristics and is primarily known for agriculture, particularly mushroom cultivation. It covers an area of 107.58 km² and has a population of 6,871 residents, the majority of whom live in rural areas. The seat of the municipality, the town of Wielichowo, serves as a service center for the local community. The municipality comprises 20 settlements, including 15 village administrative units (sołectwa). It is divided into rural areas dominated by agricultural activity and rural zones with production functions. An important element of cultural life is the annual Mushroom Festival, which aims to promote regional traditions. The natural environment of the municipality features diverse ecosystems, including lush riparian forests and woodlands, which cover 14.1% of its area. In the Middle Obra River Valley, rare bird species can be observed, making this area significant from a nature conservation perspective. The municipality is also home to natural monuments and legally protected areas, including individual trees and groups of trees, such as pedunculate oaks, as well as manor parks. Additional assets of the municipality include peatlands, marshes, and Class III soils, underscoring its importance in terms of health, culture, architecture, and biodiversity. Despite its relatively low forest cover, the region offers a mosaic of natural and anthropogenic landscapes, reflecting the spirit of Greater Poland’s tradition.
