wikipedia
Grodzisk County, located in western Poland in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, has a long and rich history dating back to the times of the Piast dynasty, when the area was part of the Zbąszyń castellany. Its present-day borders were established in 1999 as a result of administrative reform. The seat of the county is Grodzisk Wielkopolski, a town with a rich history and architecture. In the past, Grodzisk played an important role as a local administrative and minting center, as evidenced by coin finds. Grodzisk County has undergone numerous administrative changes, including during the partitions and after World War II, which influenced its economic and social development. Demographically, in 2019 the county had nearly 52,000 inhabitants, and according to 2013 statistics, it had one of the lowest budget incomes in the region. For a long time, the county's economy was burdened by high unemployment and debt, but in recent years the labor market situation has improved. Interestingly, in the past Grodzisk struggled with an administrative problem that led to the marginalization of its importance compared to other towns in the region. In the 1970s, the famous "Grodzisk Revolution" took place, a protest by residents against the centralization of authorities in Nowy Tomyśl. Architecturally, Grodzisk, despite the difficulties it has faced, has preserved many historical buildings, giving the town a unique character. Culturally, the area is a place where local traditions blend with modernity, as seen in various events and social initiatives. Grodzisk County borders the following counties: Poznań, Kościan, Wolsztyn, and Nowy Tomyśl, creating a dynamic region with diverse development opportunities.
