Wieliczka is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Wieliczka County, covering an area of 100.1 km². The municipality consists of the town of Wieliczka and 29 villages, with its seat serving as the administrative center for both the municipality and the county. As of the end of 2020, the municipality had a population of 58,687, with the majority of residents working in nearby Kraków. From a demographic and architectural perspective, it stands out for its rich collection of historical monuments. In terms of architecture, notable sites include the Żupny Castle and churches that reflect the region's former wealth, as well as numerous hilltop viewpoints offering picturesque views of the surrounding area.
Wieliczka is also known for its unique cultural heritage, including the Regional Chamber in Gorzków and an ostrich farm in the same village.
