Lasowice Wielkie, also known as Gemeinde Groß Lassowitz, is a rural municipality in the Opole Voivodeship, within Kluczbork County. Between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the former Opole Voivodeship. The municipality boasts a rich cultural and historical heritage, reflected in its architecture and the diverse ceremonies and traditions of its local inhabitants. In 2006, German was introduced as an auxiliary language, highlighting the region's multicultural character. The municipal seat was moved to Lasowice Wielkie on January 1, 2006, having previously been located in Lasowice Małe.
The municipality covers an area of 210.84 km², of which 37% is agricultural land and 60% is forested, making it an area abundant in natural resources. Lasowice Wielkie constitutes 24.76% of the total area of Kluczbork County. Demographic data shows that in 2004, the population was 7,216, which decreased to 6,901 by the end of 2017. The municipality borders several other communes, fostering regional cooperation and cultural exchange.
An interesting fact is that the 1999 administrative reform removed the municipality from Olesno County, which influenced its subsequent development. Lasowice Wielkie also offers attractive tourism opportunities, thanks to its scenic landscape and well-preserved local traditions.
