Wislinka

Wiślinka is a village located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Gdańsk County, within the administrative district of Pruszcz Gdański, near the regional road no. 501. It borders Sobieszewo Island, Gdańsk, and other localities, and its location in the Gdańsk Żuławy region makes it an attractive spot for tourists, including due to its proximity to the beach. The village has a long history, dating back to the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, when it was part of the Teutonic Order's possessions. Wiślinka gained the privileges of a free village in 1601, and over the centuries it was a site of small-scale economic activity, including an inn, a brickyard, and a port. After World War II, Wiślinka served as the seat of the local municipality for many years and underwent various stages of development, including the modernization of schools and the construction of recreational infrastructure, such as a marina on the Martwa Wisła. In recent years, attention has been drawn to the local phosphogypsum waste dump, which has sparked controversy. According to environmentalists, the dump poses a threat to the environment due to the potential release of heavy metals. However, research results from local institutions indicate no negative impact on residents' health. Thus, Wiślinka combines a rich history, elements of traditional architecture, and contemporary environmental issues, making it an interesting place to visit and analyze.
