Chybotek (Szklarska Poręba)

W skrócie

wikipedia
Chybotek, known before 1945 as Zuckerschale, is a granite rock formation in the Jizera Mountains, located in Szklarska Poręba. It is a distinctive rocking stone that, due to its size (a boulder about 4 meters in diameter), can be set in motion. This geological formation is made of Karkonosze granite and lies on the southeastern slopes of the Wysoki Grzbiet (High Ridge) of the Jizera Mountains, near the border between Szklarska Poręba Średnia and Dolna. In local Walloon legends, Chybotek was seen as a barrier blocking the entrance to a hidden treasure cave. It was also associated with the figure of the Spirit of the Mountains (Duch Gór), who was believed to rule the entire Karkonosze region. Due to the rock's shape, Chybotek was also called the Sugar Bowl (Misa Cukru). In terms of tourism, Chybotek is a popular destination. Nearby hiking trails include the black trail, which circles Szklarska Poręba, and the blue trail, connecting Szklarska Poręba Górna and Dolna PKP, as well as the Juliusz Naumowicz Trail. Thus, Chybotek is not only an interesting geological formation but also a place rich in legends and tourist attractions.
