Wola Uhruska is a rural commune with its seat in the town of the same name, located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Włodawa County. Until 1954, it was known as the Sobibór Commune, and between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Chełm Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 150.86 km², of which 49% is agricultural land and 38% is forested. In 2004, the commune had 4,223 inhabitants, and as of 2017, an age pyramid of the residents was available. Wola Uhruska stands out for its rich natural environment, not only due to the presence of nature reserves such as Brudzieniec and partially Trzy Jeziora, which are home to rare species of plants and animals. The commune includes numerous villages, such as Bytyń, Józefów, Kosyń, and Uhrusk. In addition to localities like Nadbużanka and Zastawie, the commune borders Ukraine and the neighboring communes of Hańsk, Ruda-Huta, Sawin, and Włodawa.
