Wolica Pierwsza is a village located in the Lublin Voivodeship, in Janów County, within the municipality of Modliborzyce, known for its rich history dating back to the 14th century. Until 1975, the village was part of the Tarnobrzeg Voivodeship. With a population of 760 inhabitants in 2011, the village belongs to the Parish of St. Stanislaus. Architecturally, it features notable structures such as the Chapel of Our Lady Help of Christians, the Volunteer Fire Department station, the Public Primary School building, and a branch of the Municipal Library. The history of the village is fascinating; the first mentions of it appear in 1412 under various names, and the established name "Wolica" emerged in the 16th century. Wolica witnessed numerous changes in ownership and events, such as the insurgent activities of Ignacy Solman in 1863. During World War II, tragic events occurred, including the execution of local Jews and intense partisan activity. Culturally, Wolica has its traditions, including the activities of the Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1927, which remains actively involved in the community by organizing various festivals and ceremonies. The branch of the Municipal Public Library, founded in 1967 with over 5,000 volumes, contributes to the cultural development of the community.
