wikipedia
Pisarzowice, also known as Schreibersdorf, is a village located in the Opole Voivodeship, within the municipality of Strzeleczki, in the historical region of Upper Silesia. The village was founded in the 13th century, with its first written mention appearing in a document from 1285. Pisarzowice is home to significant architectural monuments, including the Parish Church of St. Michael the Archangel, whose origins date back to the late 13th century. The church, featuring Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements, remains a place of worship and houses valuable artifacts, such as a 16th-century crucifix. Another notable structure is the late Baroque palace built by the Oppersdorff family, which served as a residence for widows of the lineage. The village has a rich history, and its administrative changes following World War II reflect the political turbulence of the region. Pisarzowice witnessed numerous historical events, including destruction during the Hussite raids in the 15th century and the Upper Silesia plebiscite of 1921, in which the vast majority of its residents voted to remain part of Germany. The villagers preserve the traditions of the local German minority and Silesians, using the Prudnik dialect. A monument commemorating the victims of both World Wars stands in Pisarzowice, highlighting the village’s significance in local history. The community also maintains firefighting and tourist units, and the area is part of a border zone, which introduces additional security considerations. In 2022, the village had a population of 423. Its history, architecture, and cultural community make it a fascinating place to explore regional traditions and heritage.
