wikipedia
Jatutów is a village located in the Lublin Voivodeship, in the Zamość County, within the commune of Zamość, on the Łabuńka River. In 2011, the village had 663 inhabitants and serves as a sołectwo (administrative village district). Historically, it was part of the Łabunie commune. Jatutów is known for its rich history dating back to the 15th century, with the first mention of the settlement originating from 1460. In the 16th century, Jatutów belonged to the Żdanów parish and was owned by Jarosław Oleśnicki. By the end of the 17th century, the village came into the hands of the Zamoyski family and later the Zamość Poor Clares. In 1782, the Poor Clares monastery was dissolved, and Jatutów came under the care of the Sisters of Charity. During the 19th century, the village developed dynamically, featuring a brickyard, a carriage factory, and a brewery that produced 80,000 buckets of beer in 1896. The interwar period brought challenging times for Jatutów, including displacements during World War II and repressions related to the activities of the Freedom and Independence (WiN) organization in the postwar years. Interesting archaeological finds include fragments of Bronze Age pottery and remnants of the Lusatian culture. Infrastructure development, such as the construction of a gas pipeline and the modernization of the village community center, took place in the 1980s and 1990s. In 2014, the village gained access to fiber-optic internet, highlighting its continuous growth. With its rich history and cultural heritage, Jatutów remains an intriguing point on the map of the Lublin region.
