Złoczew is an urban-rural municipality located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Sieradz County, with the town of Złoczew serving as its administrative seat. The municipality covers an area of 118.02 km², most of which consists of agricultural and forest land. From 1975 to 1998, it was administratively part of the former Sieradz Voivodeship. Złoczew is characterized by a diverse demographic structure; according to 2017 data, the municipality was home to 7,189 people.
Within the municipality, there are two nature reserves: Nowa Wieś and Paza, which protect unique species of trees and plants, including monumental beech trees. The area is also known for its lignite coal deposit, planned to be exploited between 2025 and 2045. Złoczew encompasses numerous localities, including villages and settlements, each with a rich history and tradition. The municipality borders areas such as Brąszewice, Brzeźnio, and Burzenin.
An interesting aspect is the planned new coal mine, which is expected to significantly impact the local economy and bring changes in spatial development that will affect residents' lives. At the same time, Złoczew remains a place where one can appreciate the beauty of nature and observe the continuity of local cultural traditions.
