Zakrzewo, a rural municipality in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Aleksandrów County, boasts a rich history dating back to the second half of the 19th century, when the area primarily belonged to the Sędzin commune. The Zakrzewo municipality was first established on January 1, 1973, and initially comprised 17 village districts (sołectws). In 1975, Zakrzewo was incorporated into the Włocławek Voivodeship, but the municipality was dissolved and divided among several other communes in 1976. It was reactivated in 1982, and in 1999, it returned to Aleksandrów County within the newly created Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Zakrzewo covers an area of 76.08 km², dominated by agricultural land (91%) and forests (3%). According to 2010 data, the municipality had a population of 3,580. The area features numerous architectural monuments, such as the manor complex in Seroczki from the second half of the 19th century, the 18th-century wooden parish church in Sędzin, and the mid-18th-century manor park in Siniarzewo. Zakrzewo itself is home to a wooden church dedicated to St. Joseph, built in 1745, and a manor complex dating back to the mid-19th century. In addition to its interesting historical sites, the municipality includes numerous village districts, such as Bachorza, Gęsin, Gosławice, Kobielice, and Siniarzewo. Zakrzewo is bordered by neighboring municipalities like Bądkowo and Dąbrowa Biskupia. With its rich cultural and historical heritage, the municipality is an important part of the region's identity.
