W skrócie

wikipedia
Zawodzie is a district of Katowice that was established at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries as a colony of Bogucice. Initially, the settlement had an agricultural character, but from the 19th century, it transformed into an industrial center with a highly developed metallurgical sector and plants such as the "Kunegunda" and "Ferrum" steelworks. Zawodzie is traversed by many important national roads and railway lines, which contributes to its transportation development. The architecture of the district is dominated by tenement houses from the late 19th century, as well as public utility buildings, such as the former town hall of the Bogucice municipality—now the seat of the University of Economics—and the Church of Divine Providence built in the 1930s. Zawodzie has a rich history connected with the Silesian Uprisings and dynamic industrial development, which led to the establishment of numerous sports and cultural organizations. After World War II, the district gained new institutions, such as the Municipal Cultural Center "Bogucice-Zawodzie," which promotes local culture and tradition. An interesting fact is the history of the first cinema in Zawodzie, "Atlantis," and the creation of Katowice's street art trails, including murals commemorating important figures for the region. The beauty of Zawodzie lies not only in its monuments but also in contemporary initiatives that blend the past with modernity.
