Zbójno Commune, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship within the Golub-Dobrzyń County, is an administrative unit with a rich history and attractive heritage sites. Its seat is the village of Zbójno, and its pre-war predecessor was the Sokołowo Commune, whose history dates back to 1867. It is worth noting that Zbójno Commune was formally established in 1973, although it avoided changes in administrative divisions after the war. The commune covers an area of 84.38 km², of which 86% is agricultural land and only 2% is forested. As one of the communes in Golub-Dobrzyń County, Zbójno occupies 13.77% of its total area. In 2004, it was inhabited by 4,517 people, and by 2017, the population had decreased to 4,381 residents. The commune is home to numerous immovable heritage sites, including the Parish Church of the Holy Trinity in Działyń from 1600, and the Carmelite Monastery Complex in Obory, which includes a church built between 1627 and 1649 and a monastery constructed between 1741 and 1753. In Zbójno, visitors can also admire a palace complex dating from 1850–1860, which now serves as a school. Zbójno Commune is a culturally diverse area, consisting of numerous village administrative units, such as Adamki, Obory, Sitno, and Zbójenko, as well as other localities like Frankowo and Kazimierzewo. It is surrounded by neighboring communes, including Brzuze, Chrostkowo, and Golub-Dobrzyń. The architecture and heritage sites of Zbójno are an important part of its cultural identity, and the history of the commune, including its administrative changes, reflects the complex development of the region over the years.
