Golub-Dobrzyń County is an administrative unit located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, with its seat in the town of Golub-Dobrzyń. The county was established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform, although its history dates back to the 1950s. In 1956, it was created as a unit within the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship, and its territory initially included parts of eight municipalities, whose boundaries changed over the years due to various reforms and administrative transformations. After the 1975 reform, most of the county's territory was incorporated into the Toruń Voivodeship, but it was reinstated in 1999. The county consists of the urban municipality of Golub-Dobrzyń, the urban-rural municipality of Kowalewo Pomorskie, and four rural municipalities: Ciechocin, Golub-Dobrzyń, Radomin, and Zbójno. Architecturally, the county boasts interesting landmarks, such as the Gothic castle in Golub-Dobrzyń, which is one of the attractions drawing tourists and history enthusiasts. Culturally, the region hosts various events and festivals aimed at promoting local traditions and arts. Golub-Dobrzyń County is also characterized by relatively low unemployment, and its residents actively participate in socio-economic life. At the end of September 2019, around 1,800 unemployed individuals were registered, representing an unemployment rate of 9.5%. The region features developing infrastructure, including road and rail transport, which facilitates connections with neighboring counties such as Toruń, Wąbrzeźno, Rypin, Brodnica, and Lipno. Education is also noteworthy, as the county has several schools, including music schools and specialized educational centers.
