The municipality of Zielonki, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within the Kraków County, is an area rich in history and diverse culture. The municipality is home to cultural institutions such as the Public Library in Zielonki and the Center for Culture, Promotion, and Recreation, which organizes cultural events and publishes the local magazine "Wiadomości Lokalne Gminy Zielonki." The area consists of numerous village districts, including Batowice, Bibice, and Węgrzce. Points of interest include the rural park in Zielonki, as well as a number of historical monuments, such as the former Austrian forts of the Kraków Fortress, the Regional Chamber in Bibice, and an obelisk commemorating Tadeusz Kościuszko's encampment. Bordering Kraków, Zielonki is the closest municipality to the city center, with a history dating back to prehistoric times—the oldest traces of settlement come from the period between 3000 and 1700 BCE. The municipality of Zielonki was established in 1934 and reinstated in 1973 after the period of Nazi occupation. Registered immovable monuments in the municipality include the armored fort 45a "Bibice," the manor complex in Boleń, and the church in Korzkiew.
