Elbląg County, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as a result of administrative reform. Its seat is the city of Elbląg, which also serves as the cultural and historical center of the region. The county includes the urban-rural municipalities of Młynary, Pasłęk, and Tolkmicko, as well as the rural municipalities of Elbląg, Godkowo, Gronowo Elbląskie, Markusy, Milejewo, and Rychliki. The county is characterized by a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, when the area was inhabited by the Old Prussians and later conquered by the Teutonic Knights.
