wikipedia
Czartak is a historic school building dating back to around 1920, located in the village of Czarnów in the Rudawy Janowickie mountains. Built on a solid stone foundation, it features two stories and a habitable attic beneath a classic gable roof. The school operated until 1970, after which it was converted into a tourist hostel through renovations carried out by the PTTK (Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society) branch from Kamienna Góra between 1970 and 1972. In 1995, the property was privatized. Its dining hall once housed a commemorative plaque dedicated to Walery Eljasz-Radzikowski, installed by the PTTK Mountain Tourism Commission to mark the 100th anniversary of trail marking in Poland. That same year, a metal plaque honoring the 25th anniversary of the Grań Mountain Tourism Club from Poznań was also mounted. After 1995, the hostel was repurposed into an agritourism facility, highlighting its continued use for tourism. The area surrounding Czartak serves as an important trail junction with several routes passing through. The European long-distance path E3 runs through Pisarzowice, Przełęcz pod Wilkowyją, Rozdroże pod Bobrzakiem, Czarnów, Czartak, Skalnik, and Przełęcz Rudawska. Other trails lead to scenic viewpoints, making Czartak an attractive base for hikers and tourists eager to explore the beauty of the Rudawy Janowickie range.
