The Deanery of Kamienna Góra – West, part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Legnica, comprises seven parishes, including the Parish of the Holy Family in Chełmsko Śląskie and the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary in Kamienna Góra. The history of the deanery dates back to before 1988, when it had approximately 50,000 faithful, which led to its division into two smaller deaneries due to pastoral needs. On June 3, 1988, the Archbishop of Wrocław decided to establish new administrative units, and the changes took effect on June 15 of the same year. Architecturally, the parishes in the deanery are diverse, ranging from traditional 19th-century churches to modern structures that meet contemporary liturgical needs. Culturally, the deanery reflects the local community's contribution to preserving traditions, organizing religious events, and fostering various activities that strengthen social bonds. It is also worth noting that the Kamienna Góra Valley is not only a place of religious life but also boasts rich natural and architectural heritage. Interestingly, one of the parishes, the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lubawka, is characterized by a unique history and the involvement of local faithful in its development, comparable to traditions in other parts of the region. Thus, the deanery significantly influences both the spiritual and cultural lives of its residents, serving as an important element of their identity.
